BEACHES

Directions on how to get to the beaches are in the House Manual in the main house. 

 1 Cala Mondrago and S’Amarador

Two of the most beautiful sandy beaches are part of the Parc Natural de Mondrago. They are connected by an attractive pathway that runs by the sea and if you like swimming you can swim between the two (the water is very safe).  Cala Mondrago has two bars – Font N’Alis that serves good lunches and evening meals. It also has a handy beach shop by the Hostal Playa Mondrago with British papers, postcards, snacks and beach things. Pedaloes are  available to rent and there is a lifeguard on duty during the summer.
S’Amarador is less crowded and has one very small, makeshift bar.

2 Cala Llombards and S’Almonia/Moro

Cala Llombards is a beautiful beach surrounded by dramatic rocky cliffs and pine trees. It’s the best place to snorkel. The beach is favoured by the locals so it can get busy at the weekends. It has one simple but expensive bar – the owner cooks good fresh fish but always check prices before agreeing to anything! (On the way to the beach there’s a small supermarket where you can stock up on food for the beach.)

The beach at S’Almonia, es Calo d’es Moro is a scramble with a steep route down and is much smaller but it’s a beautiful place for early morning swimming and snorkeling. If you just want a magnificent view, drive out to the point and look out across the glorious cliffs along the coastline. You can also take the steps down to a little group of boathouses on the water.

3 Lighthouse Beach (Playa des Caragol)

A beautiful, long sandy beach where King Juan Carlos moored for a swim with Lady Diana and the princes. Only accessible on foot after a 20-minute walk or by boat. Important to take sunshades and plenty of water/snacks if going in the summer as there is nothing there.

4 Es Trenc – long sandy beach that many people like. Good for wind surfing. Road access from Campos. Easy for families with small children as water is shallow and calm.

FISHING PORTS

5 Cala Figuera

Small, picturesque fishing village with a lovely walkway around the port. The fishing boats come in at around 5 p.m. and you can watch them unloading and the fish being weighed and sold. Fisherman are often sitting around, mending nets and chatting. With children it’s fun to take small fishing nets and buckets (you can buy them there) and they can try their luck catching tiddlers or crabs. Nice walk out to headland which starts beyond the hotel at the far end of the village. There are steps for swimming off the rocks along the way. Cala Figuera has a diving centre.

6 Porto Petro

Small port/marina with good fish restaurants. Possible to hire traditional boats and speed boats from here.

7 Porto Colom

Good fish restaurants. Sailing school and windsuring.
